This week, as the weather had been good, and as the match was scheduled for the Pedrera, there was no change of venue.
However, the Embalse is still being filled with cold water and it had risen by several inches since Monday. 16 brave and hardy anglers met for the match, with a very stiff north easterly blowing. The poor souls that drew facing the wind froze all day with the remainder all wrapped up, but not frozen.
The fish again came out winners with only 2 anglers catching. Top angler on the day being Pete Hampshire, who we believe has a holiday home on the venue.
1st Pete (The Peg) Hampshire fishing the feeder using pellet with 5.7 kilo’s. 2nd Lenny (Ex Cultural Attachee) Bolton fishing the feeder using pellet with 2.5 kilo’s.

CARPRUS MATCH RESULTS

This week saw the 10th and final round of the Winter League on the 12th February, after the poor results of a match the previous day a quick decision was made to change the venue to an irrigation channel. The results were not much of an improvement.
1st Peter (Essex Boy) Hutchison with 7.640kg. 2nd Colin (Wish) Prior with 3.020kg. 3rd Den (The Stick) Pick with 2.910kg.
All fishing the pole using maggot. The final results after a hard fought winter league are as follows
1st Paul (Poco Loco) Baxter 96pts 2nd Stuart (Flying Officer) Thompson 80pts 3rd George (Victor Meldrew) Fogg 77pts

The Tackle shop at La Marina owned by Ken is now open and he stocks maggots and other English tackle.

ANGLERS TOGETHER
Anglers Together was formed to promote recreational fishing in the area of south Valencia region and Murcia to help anglers (fresh-water and sea) to find venues and fishing buddies. Regular visitors to Spain are also welcome to join.
We have had at both the last meetings, more people join as they all require info for either sea, freshwater, fly fishing also licences etc, so as stated above all are welcome, please come and find out more, and also you can meet people to go fishing with.
The next meetings are: Friday 6th March at 12 o’clock in Lounge Bar VI. Campoverde, near Pilar de la Horadada (Take CV952 inland towards Orihuela), and Saturday 7th March at 12 o’clock at Los Galayos Bar/Restaurant in Puerto de Mazarron (located on the paseo adjacent to the seafront towards the marina at Pto de Mazarron).
For Murcia and Valencia licences, this facility will not be available until 1st April 2009 as Alan will be away exploring the world.
