A new campaign to boost Spanish
tourism has been launched. The “I need
Spain” campaign was launched by the
Tourist Board and it is hoped, will bring
more visitors to Spain this year.
The new campaign features Spanish
celebrity chef Ferrán Adriá who is seen
an a poster, juggling fruit with the
caption “Art here is not only in
museums.” Other celebrities to take part
are Gisela Pulido, six times World
Kitesurfing Champion, the national
Basketball team, the MotoGP team and,
interestingly, the Spanish players from
Liverpool FC.
Tourism chief Joan Mesquida said
this week that the objective of the
campaign is to consolidate Spain’s
position as the leader in holiday tourism.
The campaign aims to underline Spain
as one of the best destinations
worldwide while highlighting the
diversity of what is on offer.
The Spanish lifestyle, personality and
way of life feature strongly as themes
throughout the campaign. It is hoped
that Spain’s image will be strengthened
in countries where it is currently weak –
China, the US, India and the Middle East,
as well as South America.
The Government hopes that the
new adverts will be seen by 400 million
people in over 40 countries worldwide.
The new campaign takes the place of
the “Smile, you’re in Spain” campaign
which has been running since 2005.
