Mick and Rachel of MIX Bar, Urb. La
Marina, frequently organize themed
events for their bar and hold charity
evenings. In January Rachel began to
discuss with her friend, Lisa, what
festive days and events the bar needs
to organize for the coming months.
February was easy, Rachel had a 40th
birthday and of course the St.
Valentines Day Mr & Mrs Quiz in aid of
K9 animal club. March led the
conversation onto having something
different on St. Patrick’s Day, that
involved the whole community
having fun and wouldn’t it be good to
raise some funds for some local
causes too...ummmm?
The idea of the St. Patrick’s Day Fun
Run/Walk was born. Local causes
were discussed and the three selected
are The K9 Animal Club, San Fulgencio
Cub de Cricket and Totally Dane
School for children. All entrants can
run, jog or walk the 3km on
Wednesday 17th March. 3km was
chosen as there would be a large
proportion of children participating in
the Fun Run, from the Cricket Club
and Dance School. K9 volunteers are
making the walk with some of the
dogs they have for adoption. Anyone
can participate, from any area…if you
would like a sponsorship form they
can be downloaded from
www.lamarina.info or by contacting
K9, San Fulgencio Club de Cricket or
Totally Dance and of course they are
available from MIX Bar.
The run will start approximately 4.15,
anyone taking part, please could you
register as a participant from 3pm.
MIX Bar have kindly offered all
participants free Irish Stew and the
Totally Dance School are performing
some Irish Dancing after the run.
Everyone is welcome, even if you do
not join in the Fun Run but of
course…..put on your green clothing,
Guinness hats, shamrocks etc and join
in the fun….. Irish music and some
singing will be on in MIX bar after the
event.
