A programme of re-development is about to begin in San Miguel de Salinas with the aim of making the town more attractive to tourists, improving the infrastructure and reducing unemployment.
The programme will be funded through the State Investment Fund for the Promotion of Local Economy and Employment.
The re-development of the town’s streets between Boix Juan Mateo and Vicente Blasco Ibáñez will be completed over the next five months and has a budget of 680,000 euros.
The city will hire the contractor JOST to complete the work and has requested that the 22 employees required are recruited from San Miguel de Salinas. This work requires the contractor to hold the proper classification for the work to be done this includes: drainage, drinking water, road infrastructure, improving accessibility, pedestrian traffic and use by the residents of the municipal areas.
The redeveloped will transform the area from tired and rundown to a modern and pleasant space. It is hoped the cobbled area will become a draw for visitors and that the work will result in a better use and public enjoyment of the green.
Pavements will be widened and specific attention paid to accessibility for all. Lighting, seating and aesthetic improvements such as underground cabling and recycling units.
