Concerned residents in Punta
Prima have contacted their
favourite weekly paper to
warn people that pet cats are being
loaded into a car and taken away.
The cat-napping happened over a
period of several weeks and is
believed that the cats have all been
bundled into the same vehicle – a
grey saloon style car containing two
female occupants and piled high with
cat boxes.
One concerned local said: “We
have no idea why these two ladies are
stealing our pet cats. We wondered if
they might have mistakenly thought
they were feral cats, but they have
collars and all were well looked after.
I saw one of the women grab my
cat and went to stop her taking it. I
called out to her and she ignored me,
shoved my cat in the car and quickly
got in herself. I approached the car
and explained that the cat they had
just picked up was mine, but the
driver pressed the window button
trapping my arm, then released it
before speeding away.”
The details of the car and its
registration number have been
passed on to the Policia Local.
However, some people have had
more than one cat taken and they are
concerned that the women could be
moving around different areas and
want to warn cat-lovers everywhere
to be on their guard.
