The El Pairaso Restaurant, Torrevieja, was the setting for an AECC fundraising evening organised by Lynn Adams. The night was well attended and the crowd soon got into the enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere.
There was a slight hiccup when one of the performers pulled out at the last minute and left organisers frantically searching for a replacement. Must as they say, the show must go on, and luckily Samantha Curtis stepped in at the last minute to save the day and the audience were blissfully unaware. The charity line up included: The Casa Ventura Dance and Stage Academy, Paul Falcon, Olivia – or Little Miss Dynamite as she was billed and Samantha.

First to step on stage was comedian Alex from the Dance Academy, who had the unenviable task of warming the audience up, but the youngster soon had the crowd laughing along. Alex was followed by Olivia and Chloe, who delighted the audience with their ballet duet. Paris and Nicola then raised the tempo with ‘a little something from Grease’ and the sing-a-long theme continued with Stevie Wonders ‘Very Superstitious’, which was performed by singers and dancers from the Academy.
The expert voice of Paul Falcon had everyone in a party mood as he performed hits by legends such as Neil Diamond, Elvis and Tom Jones. Paul was joined on stage by daughter Olivia for a duet. However, it was 11 year-old Olivia Stokes solo performance that amazed and wowed the venue with her rendition of Duffy’s ‘Mercy’. This girl has to be seen to be believed, and the big voice that came out of such a little girl was truly superb. The show ended on real high as saviour of the day Samantha took to the stage.
More than 520 euros was raised through the sale of tickets for the evening and a prize raffle that included vintage wines and tickets for two for a dinner dance at El Paraiso. The money includes a surprise donation by CJ Builders and Olivia kindly gave 10 euros from her pocket money. The money will be used to continue the AECC’s work towards cancer prevention and early detection.
