The Dramatic Licence Theatre Group recently performed the Play BONAVENTURE at the Teatro Cardenal Belluga in San Fulgencio.
The action takes place in 1947, at the convent of Our Lady of Rheims, a French Nursing Order at Denzil St David Near Norwich. Sarat Carn (Paloma Casco Delrey) a talented young artist has been condemned for the Murder of her brother and is on her way to Norwich for completion of sentence, having just travelled from London where she learned that the final appeal had been turned down and she has just hours to live. A terrible storm forces two prison officers, a driver and the Prisoner to take shelter at the convent, where they meet Sister Mary (Carol Acton). The strong minded Nun becomes a Jessica Fletcher in a habit to solve the well planned crime, ably assisted by Sister Josephine (Eileen Hamilton).

In the mean time the great dyke is collapsing and the local village are about to descend on the convent, meaning much work for Doctor Jeffrey's (Bill Hopkins) Nurse's Brent (Karen Harris) and Philips (Anne Stebbings) and the local hapless handy man Billy (Billie Anthony' Gaddess) who is hounded by his mother Martha (Marion Parmenter). Mother Superior has her hands full dealing with everyone (Suzanne Stokes) and in the mean time the two Prison Officers Melling and Miss Pierce (Brian Barford & Jackie Williams) aim to keep the situation calm as the plot thickens.
The set design was outstanding, as was the wardrobe and makeup, all by members of the group. The acting was excellent, with some strong performances from the lead players, in particular by Sarat Carn (Paloma Casco Delrey) and Sister Mary (Carol Acton) who played their parts convincingly and kept the audiences on edge of their seats through some very moving moments.
Having raised over 19,000 Euro for The Alzheimer's Association since2004, they continue to be non profit making. Dramatic Licence have now built up a large following and some of their audience have now become the Friends of Dramatic Licence and will soon have a web page on the DL site: www.dramatic-licence.es.
The group will be announcing the September and November programme of events very soon.
