England has the calendar girls, but
Gran Alacant has the calendar
boys!
Over the past three years, Maureen
Keeler has been raising money for
charity. First for MABS and then
with the Order of the Secret
Monitor (District of Spain) but it
was after meeting Amanda from
Sandcastle Photography that the
idea she had for a calendar became
reality.
After learning that Amanda had
produced a calendar for La Marina
Youth Club for 2009. Maureen
asked Amanda to produce a mock
up calendar and set about getting
advertisements to pay for its
production. She then approached
her local bars and restaurants in
Gran Alacant and persuaded
owners to pose for the
calendar…in the nude!
This was great fun and each
establishment was vying with the
other to achieve the best photo.
The photo shoot was the talk of
Gran Alacant! Needless to say,
Amanda from Sandcastle
Photography was professional
throughout.
Maureen would like to thank all
the bars, restaurants and
businesses in Gran Alacant for
cooperating with this venture.
She would also like to thank
everyone who has preordered the
calendar in advance of printing
(380 in total!). Every penny will
go to Elche oncology wing to
help make things a little easier for
all the people suffering from
cancer.
Maureen is trying to raise €30,000
for the hospital and has raised an
amazing €18,000 to date. If
anyone would like to make a
donation to this fund, they can
contact Maureen on 618 183 298.
If you would like to sell the
calendar at your bar, shop or
restaurant, give Maureen a call or
email

The calendar is being launched
on t 4th July at 11am at the Life
Resort Gran Alacant. The Gran
Alacant Business Association are
holding an open day with over 30
stalls serving food, drinks and
various other things as well as a
bouncy castle and live music.
Most of all, Maureen wanted to
thank the artists who have given
their services for free over the last
18 months and especially,
Amanda Lee from Sandcastle
Photography for making the
calendar dream a reality. |
