In the restaurant Part 3
First of all some of the basic Vocabulary for a restaurant:
The table - La mesa
Chair - la silla
Knife - el cuchillo
Fork - el tenedor
Spoon - la cuchara
Plate - el plato
Bowl - el cuenco
Pepper - la pimienta
Salt - la sal
Oil - el aceite
Vinegar - el vinagre
Napkin/Serviette - la sevilleta
The menu - el menú
The bill - la cuenta
For any of the above it is useful to be able to ask for the things for example:
Could I/ we have …….., please?
Could you bring me/ us ………., please?
¿Podría traerme/ traernos un/ una ……,
por favor?
If you are asking for the bill you can get away with saying: “La cuenta, por favor”,
although you could try with the more formal ….
¿Podría traer/me/nos la cuenta, por
favor?
Or you may need another one of something:
Could you bring me/ us another ...., please?
¿Podría traerme/ traernos otro/ otra ………, por favor?
NB:When speaking Spanish remember that
all things are either masculine or feminine;
this can be seen from the El (“the” masculine)
or the La (“the” feminine). When asking for
things try to remember the correct form “el”
or “la”. The same thing applies to another
which must have the form OTRO for the “el”
words and OTRA for the “la” words.
In Spanish the words for “a” or “an” also have
two forms so when you ask for one of
something you should use “una” (feminine)
or “un” (masculine).
